2025-2026 Faculty Senate

Purpose

The purpose of the Faculty Senate is to:

  1. Facilitate communication among faculty.
  2. Serve as the executive-representative body of SCC faculty in dealings with the college administration, district administration, and governing board.
  3. To select representatives to serve on administrative councils and on coordinating committees of the faculties of the colleges of the district, and
  4. To participate in the formation and implementation of policies for the local college and district.

Senate Representatives

Departments shall be provided Senate representation on the following basis:

  • Departments with 1-10 Residential Faculty members are delegated 1 Senate representative
  • Departments with 10 or more Residential Faculty members are delegated 2 Senate representatives
  • Three (3) Residential Faculty members will be elected to serve as At-Large Senators by a majority vote of the Residential Faculty of the college.

Faculty members in the following roles or positions will serve as members of the Faculty Senate without voting privileges:

  • Chair-of-Chairs
  • Chair-of-OPDs
  • Elected Adjunct Faculty representatives
